Frequently Asked Questions
Get insight into everything you need to know about renting side-by-sides, ATVs, and snowmobiles in Montana.
Is there wildlife in the area?
There is wildlife in the area, including deer, elk and occasionally moose. Sightings are possible but not common. If you encounter wildlife, simply slow down, keep your distance, and give them plenty of space. Enjoy the view safely and continue your ride.
Do you offer guided tours?
We do not offer guided tours. All of our machines come equipped with Polaris Ride Command, an onboard GPS system with pre‑loaded designated routes and suggested loops. It provides turn‑by‑turn guidance, real‑time tracking, and points of interest, making it easy and safe to explore on your own.
What should I bring?
Riders should wear closed‑toe shoes along with long sleeves and pants for a safe, comfortable ride. A neck gaiter or bandana is recommended for dust and to wear under your helmet. Helmets and goggles are always provided. We also suggest bringing extra layers—like a lightweight jacket or sweater—to stay prepared for changing weather. A small backpack with water, lunch, snacks, bug spray, and sunscreen is optional but highly recommended.
Do I need to pay a deposit when booking?
A 35% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be billed and due on the day of your rental. Reservations made within 30 days of your pick‑up date require full payment at the time of booking. Please refer to our cancellation policy for full details.
How old do you have to be to drive or rent a machine?
Drivers must be at least 25 years old to rent or operate a unit under Polaris Adventures guidelines. A valid driver’s license is required for anyone operating an off‑road vehicle. All passengers must be able to hold a handhold securely, keep both feet planted on the floor, and sit fully against the backrest. Helmets and eye protection are required at all times while the vehicle is in operation.
What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations incur a $75.00 cancellation fee. Deposits will be refunded, minus the fee, for cancellations made 14 days or more before the scheduled pick‑up date. Cancellations made within 14 days are non‑refundable. No‑shows are charged the full reservation amount. If your group arrives with fewer riders and requests fewer vehicles than reserved, the full original reservation fee still applies. For multi‑day rentals returned early, a 50% credit will be issued for each remaining full rental day per vehicle, excluding the day the unit is returned. Please note: from September 1st through March 30th, no refunds are issued unless the machine is re‑rented to another party, in which case a full refund will be provided.
Do the rentals come with a full tank of gas?
Machines come with a full tank of fuel at pick‑up. When you return your rental, you’re responsible for refilling it at the local gas station next to our lot. Please use Premium Non‑Ethanol fuel only. Machines returned without a full tank will be refilled at the current pump price plus $0.50 per gallon. Multi‑day rentals of four days or more are not required to refill machines upon return.
Do we need any trail passes or permits?
Our machines are street‑licensed and already equipped with all required trail permits, so you’re fully covered and ready to ride.
Do you deliver and pickup?
We do offer delivery for rentals of three days or more. Delivery is billed at $2.75 per mile, round‑trip. For example, Melrose, MT is 35 miles away, so delivery and pick‑up would total $96.25. For one‑ and two‑day rentals, we provide trailers for you to pick up the machines, or you can typically ride directly from our shop.
What are the pickup and drop-off times?
Pick‑up and drop‑off times depend on your location, since our two Montana basecamps keep different hours. Our Dillon location (Beaverhead Adventures) is open Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and our Anaconda location (Pintler Adventures) is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled pick‑up time. All rental units must be returned to your pickup location by closing time on the final day of your rental. Returns after closing will be charged as an additional full day unless prior arrangements have been made for a late return.
Can I pick up my rental the night before?
You may pick up your rental the night before for an additional $100.00 fee, provided our schedule allows and the machine is returned on time by the prior renter. Next‑morning returns will be charged at the 3‑hour rate if scheduling permits.
Where can we ride?
